Doctoral forum

Interdisciplinary doctoral conference
(doctoral students’ forum – mandatory for the 1st and 3rd years)

The forum in the academic year 2023/2024 will be held on June 20 and 21, 2024

Instructions for doctoral students

Each student will prepare a presentation (PPTX or PDF; we do not recommend anything requiring online access).

The presentation should be prepared according to the School’s template (PL / EN).

The finished presentation should be uploaded to the MSTeams platform by May 15.

The presentation file should be described as follows: Discipline_Name_year of education.* (for example: History_Smith_2023-2024.*).

Each student has a specific time limit for self-presentation:

  • Year 1: 15 min. + 15 min. for Q&A
  • Year 3: 20 min. + 10 min. for Q&A

The Evaluation Committee will take into account the following:

  • Methodological correctness
  • Knowledge of theoretical contexts
  • Novel / innovative approach to the research problem
  • The references used
  • The structure of the presentation
  • Communication skills of the student
  • Participation in the discussion / answers

Each student will be e-mailed his / her appraisal within 3 weeks from the presentation (to the address registered in the amu.edu.pl domain).

Instructions for members of the Committee

The Committee evaluates students’ achievements in the disciplines taught by the School.

In each case, members of the Committee complete the evaluation form and add a feedback.

The evaluation form should be submitted in person or e-mailed (to sdnh@amu.edu.pl) no later than 14 days from the date of the interdisciplinary conference (doctoral students forum).

A detailed schedule and an order of presentations will be announced on the School’s website by May 29, 2024.

The conference (forum) has an open formula and everyone is invited.

Learning outcomes for the subject “Interdisciplinary doctoral conference (doctoral students’ forum)”

E_U01: The student can use knowledge from various scientific disciplines to creatively identify, formulate and innovatively solve complex research problems or perform advanced research tasks. In particular, the student can: define the goals and subject of his / her research; formulate research hypotheses; develop methods, techniques and research tools and apply them creatively and effectively; draw conclusions based on the results of the research.

E_U05: The student can communicate in the field of specialist knowledge in Polish and in a foreign language at the CEFR B2 level to an extent that allows active participation in the national and international discourse of the scientific community in order to exchange knowledge, experiences and ideas.

E_U06: The student can present the results of his / her research and initiate and conduct scientific and popular science discussions in Polish and foreign languages.

E_U08: The student can independently plan his / her development, both in the field of scientific and academic activities, as well as other professional activities, and to inspire and stimulate others.

E_K01: The student can critically evaluate works in his / her discipline and his / her own contribution to the development of this discipline.

E_K05: The student strives to continuously improve his / her professional and personal competences, in particular by tracking and analyzing the latest achievements related to his / her discipline.
